It started with a number: 4%.
That's the share of India's population that holds a credit card. And for decades, that small group has had exclusive access to the best financial products in the country — lounge access, golf sessions, hotel upgrades, transparent rewards, premium cards. Everything else was just 'standard'.
We didn't think that was right.
Pockket Payment Technologies was founded in April 2021 with a conviction: that financial inclusion means more than having a bank account. It means having access to products that actually work in your favour — products that reward you, protect you, and grow with you, regardless of your credit history.
In October 2024, The Card Company was born. An RBI-licensed Prepaid Payment Instrument (PPI) platform designed for modern India — with a premium prepaid wallet, a physical RuPay card, real gold rewards, and lifestyle benefits previously gatekept by elite credit cards. Powered in partnership with DreamFolks, the company that built India's lounge access infrastructure.
We're also building for the people traditional finance doesn't see. Teenagers who need a financial identity of their own. Families who want to manage money together. Anyone who has been told 'you don't qualify' by a bank.
UPI on PPI is coming. A metal card is coming. The product keeps getting better because the problem we're solving is real, and we're not done yet.

Sandeepan Kashyap — CEO & Co-Founder
Sandeepan has spent 19 years in payments and financial services — long enough to know what's broken and how to fix it. He started The Card Company because he believed India's next great financial product wouldn't come from a bank. So far, he's been right.
Kanika Dang — Chief Operating Officer
Thirteen years in retail banking and consumer payments at Paytm and Citi Bank gave Kanika a precise understanding of what users actually need — versus what they're typically given. At The Card Company, she makes sure those two things are the same.
Liberatha Kallat — Director
Liberatha founded DreamFolks in 2008 and spent the years since building the infrastructure that powers premium travel and lifestyle access across India. Her presence on The Card Company's board isn't ceremonial — it's what makes our lifestyle offering genuinely best-in-class.
